Match Report
Mellor showed their intent early in the game after five minutes from a long throw that was flicked on and the ball landed at the feet of the Mellor forward, this looked like a certain goal but was mis-controlled, and the chance was lost; within a minute, Mellor created another chance, this time from wide on the right from a long clearance from the Mellor keeper; a midfielder hit the ball on the half volley and fortunately for Bedians the ball hit the side netting, soon Bedians got their passing game going, Mellor were working hard to keep Bedians from creating chance's however on 16 minutes Enock Amankwaa broke away on the right and got to the byline and tried drive the ball across the six-yard only to be thwarted by the Mellor centre half who conceded a corner. However, a minute later, Bede's were on the attack again; Cam Walker hit a wonder strike from 25 yards that hit the bar and went into the net, a definite contender for goal of the season to give Bedians the lead
Straight away, Bedians created another chance after Tosin received the ball from Tomasz; our keeper, Enoch, who was wide in the right, lost his marker. Tosin played the ball into him, and then Enoch played a neat one-two with Mo; he was away bearing down on goal with options in the Middle; he shot wildly into the side netting; this was a wasted opportunity after good work, chances for the rest of the first half were few and far between, we went into the break Mellor 0-1 Bedians.
The second half started slowly, with Bedians keeping possession without creating opportunities until the 52nd Minute. Bedians lost possession in the last third, and Mellor poured forward. Ryan Timmons won back the ball and gave it to Enoch, who squared it to Chris Sherrington, who played a great ball over the top of the Mellor back four to Erick, who stayed on the side to finish confidently to the keeper's left. The game opened up for Bedians at this point; Erick had the ball in the net 3 minutes, later on, to be ruled just offside; within 2 minutes, Chris Sherrington put in a great cross, which Prindi Kimputu headed unchallenge and this time, the Crossbar saved Mellor, on the 62nd Minute Erick made a run down the left with the ball after a good passing move he found Prindi in the Middle who squared it to Enoch who's first goal attempt was blocked by the centre half. Still, however, he connected well with his second opportunity to make it 3-0. Mellor rallied and changed their formation and scored within 2 minutes of the Kick Off; unfortunately for Mellor, the depth Bedians bench then came into play with Kane Hussain & Finn McGuire, causing havoc both on the left and right and with Mellor going to 3 at the back, opportunities were there for the taking on the 75th Minute another defence-splitting pass from Cam Walker put Erick Ageymang through on goal to finish confidently, Mellor applied more pressure on the Bedians back four however but was caught on the break in the 83rd with Cam Walker winning the ball and made a great turn and pass to Chris who made an excellent defence-splitting pass to Kane Hussain to finish confidently, Bedians final goal came in the 91st Minute another pass by Chris to Kane on the left who sprinted down the line he then cut in and squared the ball to Cam who drove his shot to the bottom corner. Overall, Bedians performed well, which means they have reached the top of the L&C Premier Division in terms of goal difference; the game was played in good spirit by both teams and refereed well by Peter Metcalfe.
